Gujarat Police arrests Safia Manzil building owner and two sons in cybercrime case

Surat (Gujarat) [India], October 17 : The Gujarat Police arrested the Safia Manzil building owner and his two sons who were accused of cybercrime in a raid here.
As per the Surat Police Commissioner, Anupam Singh Gehlot, the raid was conducted by the Special Operation Group and the owner of the building has been identified as Maqbool (58) who was arrested along with his two songs identified as Kasif (32) and Maz (25).
Speaking to ANI, Gehlot said "The Special Operation Group of Surat conducted a raid at the Safia Manzil building and arrested the owner Maqbool, aged 58 and his two sons, Kasif, aged 32 and Maz aged 25."
Further, the Police Commissioner said that a total of 10 bank passbooks were recovered, including 8 saving account passbooks, 29 different bank cheque passbooks, 38 debit bank cards, 497 sim cards, two money counting machines, and Rs 16 lakh 95 thousand in cash which they had after committing the fraud.
"A total of 10 bank passbooks, 29 different bank cheque passbooks. 38 debit bank cards, 497 sim cards, two money counting machines, and Rs 16 lakh 95 thousand were found in cash from them. Additionally, Rs 1 lakh in Dubai and Thai currency was also recovered."
The third son of Maqbool, a wanted, and Mahesh Desai, a fourth person residing in Dubai run a 'Hawala racket'.
"The third son of Maqbool and Mahesh Desai, another man used to run a 'Hawala' racket from Dubai, and these two used to send money to Maqbool. The work of Maqbool was to loot people who had cryptocurrency and give them cash. The profit gained through this was around 10 percent and the money received was transferred to Dubai. Through the act, a transaction of Rs 100 crores has been made in the last two years. Maqbool also has a Chinese and Dubai bank account. He also has several properties," he added.
Investigation is underway to understand the networking of these people. Central agencies will also be involved in arresting the other two accused.
