Guna, Shivpuri airports to be developed under RCS UDAN; Rs 45 crore allocated for each

New Delhi [India], March 6 : The Ministry of Civil Aviation will be developing Guna and Shivpuri airports in Madhya Pradesh under the 'UDAN' scheme to stimulate regional air connectivity and make air travel affordable to the masses in the region.
To develop the Guna and Shivpuri airports, Rs 45 crore each has been allocated. The MoCA/AAI has allocated Rs 45 crores for the development of Guna Airport, where the Airports Authority of India has also agreed to provide communications, navigation surveillance (CNS), air traffic management (ATM) and aeronautical information services (AIS). The AAI has also agreed to be designated as the O&M Services provider for Guna Airport.
Shivpuri Airport has been identified under UDAN 5.2 with a 9-seater type of aircraft. Bids from Shivpuri to Bhopal are by the new start-up airline Spirit Air. The MoCA has allocated Rs 45 crore to develop the airport.
The Airports Authority of India has agreed to provide communications, navigation surveillance (CNS)/ air traffic management (ATM) and aeronautical information services (AlS) facilities and services, as per the guidelines laid down by the International Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO).
Additionally, AAI has agreed to be designated as the O&M Services provider for Shivpuri Airport.
People from Shivpuri and Bhopal, including those from adjoining areas, will get direct air connectivity between Shivpuri and Bhopal. Apart from the seamless movement of passengers, it will boost trade, commerce, and tourism to enhance the economic activity of the region.
