Guwahati: Narcotics Control Bureau seizes over 7 kg of Methamphetamine, arrests five persons

Guwahati (Assam) [India], December 22 : The Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB), Guwahati on Friday busted an inter-state drug trafficking gang and seized 7.198 kg of Methamphetamine. The sleuths of NCB, Guwahati also apprehended five persons.
A senior official of NCB Guwahati said that based on reliable input and further continuous surveillance on the ground, the Guwahati Zonal unit successfully identified and cracked upon one inter-state syndicate or network involved in the supply of methamphetamine from Silchar of Assam to Cooch Behar of West Bengal.
"Accordingly, Guwahati Zonal unit apprehended five persons at Sonapur Toll Plaza in Kamrup (Metro) district on Friday while they were proceeding towards Cooch Behar (West Bengal) in a car. On search, NCB Guwahati team seized 7.198 kg of Methamphetamine from their possessions," the senior official of NCB Guwahati said.
"The seized Methamphetamine were packed in black plastic packets and kept inside 2 bag packs and placed below the seats of driver and passenger of the car (both front seats)," he added.
The apprehended persons were identified as Jobed Ali of Cooch Behar (West Bengal), Sanju Choudhury of Baksa (Assam), Babla Miah of Cooch Behar (West Bengal), Fatik Ali of Barpeta (Assam) and Nabibur Rahman Barpeta (Assam).
"Source of the contraband was traced to Silchar (Assam) and destination was Cooch Behar (West Bengal)," the officer said.
