Patna (Bihar) [India], September 10 : Recalling the tumultuous past of his party's alliance with Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar's Janata Dal (United), Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) leader Tejashwi Yadav on Tuesday revealed that Nitish Kumar had apologised with folded hands for joining the BJP-led NDA, however, he ruled out future alliances with the Nitish Kumar-led JDU.
Tejashwi Yadav said that it all happened in front of his MLAs, who were witnesses to it.
"Hamare ghar jab aaye to haath jodkar maafi maang rahe the. He had asked for forgiveness in front of all the MLAs, they were all witnesses. How many times in the House has he apologised with folded hands, saying that he had made a mistake and that he will not join the BJP now?" he said.
Tejashwi Yadav categorically ruled out any possibility of a future alliance with the Janata Dal (United) in the Bihar assembly polls.
"His oath has no value. No one trusts him, as he may change his mind anytime. Twice we took pity on him and gave him life and both times he showed his real form. This time there is no meaning," Tejashwi added.
Notably, Nitish Kumar's political career has been marked by a dizzying array of alliances over the past two decades. In 2015, Kumar's Janata Dal (United) and Tejashwi Yadav's Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) formed a partnership, securing victory in the Bihar polls. Kumar took the reins as Chief Minister, with Yadav as his deputy.
However, this alliance was short-lived. In 2017, Kumar ditched the RJD to join forces with the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). He retained his Chief Minister seat.
Fast-forward to 2022, and Kumar once again switched sides, abandoning the BJP to rekindle his alliance with the RJD. But in a shocking turn of events, Kumar flip-flopped yet again in January, returning to the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) fold.
Further, targeting the CM Nitish-led Bihar government, the RJD leader said that the criminals are not afraid of the police in the state.
"Murders are happening continuously. Criminals have become unbridled and they are not afraid of the police. Nitish Kumar's reputation has completely ended. He is not able to maintain law and order. Everyone is worried. Bank robberies and kidnappings are happening every day. CM is not interested in controlling crimes. They have a false notion that everything is going well. Their only job is to abuse the opposition," he said.
On Monday morning, Bharatiya Janata Party leader Munna Sharma was shot dead by unidentified criminals while reportedly resisting a chain-snatching attempt in Patna.
Sharma, who was the former BJP mandal president was rushed to hospital after sustaining injuries in the shooting incident but succumbed to his injuries during treatment.
According to the Patna Police, the criminals shot Sharma on Monday morning near a restaurant in Patna City. They received information about the incident at around 6.15 am today.
Further, speaking on his 'Aabhar Yatra', Tejashwi Yadav said, "Today is the first day of our journey. We have come for the Karyakarta Darshan and Samvad program. We aim to communicate with the party workers and listen to them. We will listen to the advice of the workers on how to expand the party and how to strengthen the party and will work in that direction. The party will be strong only if the workers are strong."
