"Half are on bail, half are in jail": JP Nadda attacks INDIA bloc over 'corruption'

Gondia (Maharashtra) [India], April 12 : Bharatiya Janata Party national president JP Nadda lashed out at the INDIA bloc over corruption allegations, stating that half of the opposition leaders are in jail, while the other half are out on bail.
He further said that the people have to choose in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections whether the corrupt should be punished or not.
Addressing a public meeting in Maharashtra's Gondia on Friday, Nadda said, "On one hand PM Modi speaks of punishing the corrupt...On the other hand, the INDI alliance says that the corrupt should be saved... Now you have to choose whether the corrupt are to be saved or to be punished."
He further attacked the Opposition parties highlighting the list of corruption allegations against their leaders.
"Congress did coal scam, Augusta Westland helicopter scam, submarine scam, corruption in rice, sugar, 2G/3G scam, Commonwealth scam. Akhilesh Yadav did a laptop scam, and corruption in the Gomti river front. Lalu Yadav did a fodder scam. Didn't he eat fodder of the cattle? He committed corruption in coal tar, a land-for-job scam. Mamata Banerjee did teacher recruitment scam, cattle smuggling scam, sand scam," Nadda said.
"Sonia Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi, P Chidambaram, Lalu Yadav, his two sons; aren't all these are out only on bail. Arvind Kejriwal, Manish Sisodia, and Satyender Jain aren't all these in jail. Half are on bail, half are in jail," he added.
Earlier in the day, addressing a rally in Madhya Pradesh's Chhindwara, the BJP national president said that Prime Minister Modi has changed the definition of politics in the last 10 years.
"PM Modi changed the definition, culture and method of politics. 10 years ago, politics happened based on caste, religion, region, upper-lower caste, north-south, this side or that side of the river. For 70 years, Congress made brothers fight against each other. But, now PM Modi has changed the definition of politics and now politics of 'Vikasvaad' is taking place," he said.
"We have seen two forms of Madhya Pradesh...there was a time when it was considered a 'BIMARU' state. Today, I am happy that this BIMARU state has become a progressive state under the 20-year rule of the BJP and is growing rapidly. Prime Minister Narendra Modi has left no stone unturned in developing the state and has taken steps to take the state forward," he further said.
Maharashtra has 48 Lok Sabha seats, the second-largest after Uttar Pradesh. In the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, the BJP won 23 out of 25 seats it contested in alliance with the undivided Shiv Sena.
Elections to the 48 Lok Sabha seats in Maharashtra will be held in five phases on April 19, April 26, May 7, May 13, and May 20. the counting of votes will be done on June 4.
