New Delhi [India], June 30 : Batter Hanuma Vihari is set to play for Madhya Pradesh in the 2023-24 domestic season.
According to ESPNcricinfo, subject to receiving a No Objection Certificate from his current team, the Andhra Cricket Association, the 29-year-old, who has participated in 16 Test matches, will be one of two professionals in the mix.
Vihari will join the middle order, which already has Shubham Sharma, Rajat Patidar, and Venkatesh Iyer. In the Duleep Trophy, Vihari is now captaining South Zone, and he may also be a candidate to captain Madhya Pradesh.
Since July of last year, when India played the final Test of a five-match series in England, Vihari has not been a member of the team for Test matches. Vihari has played in 16 games thus far and has amassed 839 runs at an average of 33.56 with one century against the West Indies.
Vihari scored 490 runs in 14 innings during his most recent domestic season, leading Andhra to the knockout rounds. He also had two half-centuries. In order to protect a broken forearm, he batted left-handed in his final act despite being a right-hander by nature.
In first-class cricket in 113 games, he has scored 8,600 runs, including 23 centuries and 45 half-centuries with an average of 53.41.
