Haryana govt to appeal in SC after HC quashes policy of additional marks scheme, says CM Saini

Chandigarh [India], June 1 : Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini said that they will continue the fight for their scheme of giving an additional 5 marks in examinations to the poor, weaker, and deprived sections of society and will approach the Supreme Court against the High Court order that cancelled the scheme.
Taking to X, Saini said, "An ambitious scheme of giving additional 5 marks to the poor, weak and deprived sections of society to bring them forward was made by the Haryana government."
"The High Court gave a decision against it and it was cancelled. As the Haryana Government, we will continue this fight as per the constitutional and legal processes and will appeal to the Honourable Supreme Court. The Haryana government will continue to fight this battle to get justice for the poor, the weak and the deprived till the last option," he added.
The Punjab and Haryana High Court on Friday held as unconstitutional the socioeconomic criteria prescribed by the Haryana government to grant additional marks to certain classes of candidates in state government jobs.
"With the rejection of the marks of 'Socio-Economic Criteria' in Group C, Group D, Group 56 and Group 57 and TGT recruitment, the future of more than 20 lakh youth of Haryana hangs in balance! 10,997 Group D jobs on the verge of termination - cheating and deceiving the youth is the BJP DNA! The future of the youth lies in the departure of BJP," Congress leader Randeep Singh Surjewala posted on X.
