Hathras stampede: BJP MLA Arun Asim says "committee formed under chairmanship of DG Zone Agra"

Hathras (Uttar Pradesh) [India], July 3 : BJP MLA Asim Arun interacted with the victims and eyewitnesses of the Hathras stampede on Wednesday.
He said that a committee has been formed under the chairmanship of DG Zone Agra and a report will be submitted to the Chief Minister.
"I have spoken with injured victims and eyewitnesses. After the event was over the chief spokesperson (Baba Ji) was leaving and people rushed to seek his blessings. Following this, a few people fell off and other people fell over them. Many started running and a stampede occurred as the path was very narrow. 116 people have died and 22 have been hospitalised. 20 bodies have been unidentified. It is difficult to show bodies and it is difficult for the person also who gets to see the bodies," said Arun Asim.
"FIR has been launched into the same. An investigation team has launched a probe into the matter. Whoever is at fault will be punished...A committee has been formed under the chairmanship of DG Zone Agra and a report will be submitted to the Chief Minister. It has been assigned the role of seeing if different agencies have done their work properly or not," he added.
Meanwhile, police conducted a search operation at Ram Kutir Charitable Trust in Mainpuri district in search of 'Bhole Baba', who conducted a Satsang in Hathras where a stampede took place on Tuesday.
"We did not find Baba ji inside the campus...He is not here..." said Deputy SP Sunil Kumar.
Aligarh DM Vishak G Iyer said that as many as 23 bodies have been brought to Aligarh and a total of three injured people are receiving treatment and out of them one is in critical condition.
"A total of 23 bodies have been brought to Aligarh...Three injured people from the Hathras incident are getting treatment at Jawaharlal Nehru Medical College. Out of them, two are in stable condition whereas one is in critical condition. We have talked to the hospital administration and the procedure to take the (critical) patient to the ICU is underway..." said Aligarh DM Vishak G Iyer.
Earlier, Uttar Pradesh government announced Rs 2 lakh compensation to the kin of those who died in the incident.
Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has also ordered a thorough investigation into the incident.
Earlier, Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed his condolences over the loss of lives in the stampede in Hathras and wished speedy recovery to the injured.PM Modi also spoke with Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath following the tragic incident.
"The Uttar Pradesh government is engaged in providing all possible help to the victims. My condolences to those who have lost their loved ones. I wish for the speedy recovery of the injured," PM Modi said in a post on X.
