Heavy rainfall likely over Kerala from May 25-29: IMD

Thiruvananthapuram (Kerala) [India], May 25 : The India Meteorological Department has predicted the further advancement of Southwest Monsoon in Kerala on Saturday.
The IMD said that Kerala is likely to recieve heavy rainfall from May 25 to 29. Conditions are favourable for further advance of Southwest Monsoon over some more parts of Southwest Bay of Bengal and Central Bay of Bengal and some parts of Northeast Bay of Bengal during the next 24 hours, it added.
It has issued a yellow alert for the next 24 hours as heavy rainfall is very likely to occur at isolated places in the districts of Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam, Ernakulam, Pathanamthitta, Idukki, Kottayam, and Alappuzha.
On May 26, a heavy rainfall alert was issued for Ernakulam, Alappuzha, Kottayam, and Pathanamthitta.
On May 27, only Alappuzha and Ernakulam were given alerts, while on May 28, apart from Alappuzha and Ernakulam, an alert was issued for Thrissur also.
On May 29, Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam, Alappuzha, Ernakulam, Idukki, Pathanamthitta, and Kottayam were given heavy rainfall warnings.
Further, the IMD has issued a wind warning for fishermen on the Kerala and Lakshadweep coasts.
Fishermen are advised not to venture into the South Kerala coast on May 25 and those out in the deep sea are advised to return to the coast.
In Lakshadweep, wind warnings have been given on May 25, 28, and 29.
