Heavy to very heavy rainfall forecasted at north-coastal Andhra Pradesh from tomorrow

Visakhapatnam (Andhra Pradesh) [India], July 17 : Heavy to very heavy rainfall is forecasted at north coastal Andhra Pradesh from Thursday, a Visakhapatnam cyclone warning centre official stated.
Srinuvas MD, Visakhapatnam cyclone warning center, said, "Low pressure is likely to form over west central and adjoining north west bay of Bengal around July 19. We are predicting light to moderate rain at most of coastal AP and heavy rainfall at one or two places. Heavy to very heavy rainfall is also expected at the north coastal AP in particular districts Eluru, Alluri Sitharama Raju and Paderu from tomorrow onwards."
He further said that in the next 24 hours, heavy rain is expected in north-coastal AP, specifically, Alluri Sitharama Raju.
He said, "Rainfall is likely to continue for three to four days. Because of the system prevalence over Bay of Bengal and Coastal districts of AP, squarely wind raging between 45 to 55 km per hour is likely to commence from tomorrow onwards. We have advised the fishing community not to venture out in the sea. During the last 24 hours, light to moderate rainfall was recorded at many places in North Coastal Andhra Pradesh."
He said that the monsoon trough at mean sea level is currently passing through Jaisalmer, Kota, Guna, Narsinghpur, Rajnandgaon, Kalingapatnam and hence eastwards to the central Bay of Bengal and extends up to 1.5 km above mean sea level.
"The shear zone now runs roughly along 20°N between 3.1 and 5.8 km above mean sea level, tilting southwards with height," he said.
According to IMD, a fresh low-pressure area is likely to form over West Central and the adjoining Northwest Bay of Bengal around July 19.
