"Here to give love, won't do politics," says Ramayana-fame Arun Govil

Meerut (Uttar Pradesh) [India], March 26 : Ramayana-fame Arun Govil and BJP's Meerut candidate on Tuesday that he will carry forward the same persona in politics, which he has been holding for so long, and emphasized his dedication to embodying love and compassion throughout his political career.
Speaking to ANI, Govil said, "I will not do politics. What we call the definition of politics, I am incapable of doing it. I am here just to give away what I have: love, compassion, and empathy.
"There is no challenge anywhere. When a person sets out to do his work honestly, if you stay dedicated to it, you will definitely succeed. I have come to give the love, the compassion, and the sensitivity I have towards the people of Meerut," he said.
Addressing queries about his approach in politics and maintaining his established persona, Govil asserted, "Why will I change. I have never done anything in my life which brings people to point fingers at me," Govil said.
The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Sunday fielded Arun Govil, the veteran actor famed for his role as Lord Ram in the popular TV show Ramayan, as its candidate from his hometown Meerut in Uttar Pradesh for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.
Arun Govil, who was among the 111 people named in the BJP's fifth list of candidates, replaces three-time MP Rajendra Agarwal, who has been holding the Meerut seat since 2004.
Taking to his social media account, the veteran actor expressed heartfelt gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the selection committee for fielding him from the Meerut constituency for the Lok Sabha election.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to kickstart the Bharatiya Janata Party campaign in Uttar Pradesh from Meerut where he will address a rally on March 30.
Meerut is considered as the political capital of western Uttar Pradesh.
It's worth noting that the Lok Sabha elections will be held in seven phases across the country, with voting on June 4 and results thereafter.
The first phase of polling will take place on April 19, the second phase on April 26, the third phase on May 7, the fourth phase on May 13, the fifth phase on May 20, the sixth phase on May 25, and the seventh and final phase on June 1. Polling in Meerut will take place on April 26, during the second phase.
