Himachal CM Sukhu inaugurates state's first digital library in Bilaspur

Shimla (Himachal Pradesh), October 29 : Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu inaugurated the state's first digital library in Bilaspur on Tuesday. The library is equipped with essential amenities and has seating arrangements for 40 people.
The digital library houses approximately 2,500 books, including offline access to NCERT and CBSE books for classes 1 to 12. Additionally, it offers resources for college courses, competitive exams, and various educational materials for readers.
CM Sukhu emphasized that this new digital library provides free access to reading materials and is equipped with the latest technology.
"The library offers free access to reading materials via touch-screen devices, servers and social media platforms. The facility is equipped with RFID technology, enabling a smart management system that benefits users by streamlining library functions. To enhance the user experience, each reader will be issued an ID card, which must be scanned for library entry," he said.
The district library includes a spacious reading hall, an e-library, computer tablets, appropriate furniture, and other necessary facilities for students. For security, CCTV surveillance cameras have also been installed on the premises.
During the inauguration, the Chief Minister engaged with students at the digital library, who expressed their gratitude for the government's commitment to integrating digital technology and enhancing civic amenities.
They shared their experiences, noting that the innovation in technology has significantly enriched their learning, making study time more enjoyable and productive.
The students praised the government's focus on fostering an environment that encourages reading and learning, stating that the advanced digital resources and comfortable facilities would positively impact their academic journeys.
In addition to the library, the Chief Minister also inaugurated a new building for the Vigilance and Anti-Corruption Bureau in Bilaspur, constructed at a cost of Rs 1.67 crore.
Technical Education Minister Rajesh Dharmani, HPTDC Chairman RS Bali, former Minister Ram Lal Thakur, former MLA Bumber Thakur, Tilak Raj, and other dignitaries were also present on the occasion.
