Kangra (Himachal Pradesh) [India], December 19 : Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu greeted the Leader of Opposition, Jai Ram Thakur, on the first day of the Winter Session of the Himachal Pradesh Vidhan Sabha at Tapovan in Dharamshala.
The Chief Minister said that the state government is working towards providing self-employment opportunities to the youth while addressing the Assembly on Tuesday.
"There are many youths who cannot spend money but they have land. In the hospitality sector, many youths earn Rs 20000 to Rs 30000 per month. Our government is working on a policy to empower youth. As per this policy, if any youth has 3 acres of land, we will give them Rs 20000 per month. In a year, a person with 3 acres of land will be able to generate an income of Rs 50000 to Rs 60000. Under this scheme, we will be giving them Rs 2 lakh 40 thousand in a year. The e-taxi scheme was the first step. This is the second step towards empowering the youth, which will be implemented in the new year," Sukhu said speaking at the Assembly.
Later in the day, Sukhu said that he is slated to inaugurate PepsiCo's biggest production unit worth Rs 270 crore in Indora on Wednesday.
"In the history of Kangra, for the first time, PepsiCo is setting up its biggest production unit worth Rs 270 crore which I'm going to inaugurate in Indora tomorrow. This is the biggest investment. BJP spent Rs 36 crore in Investor's Meet, but investment didn't come. This first investment shows the commitment of our government that we are moving forward in making Himachal 'Aatma Nirbhar'," the Chief Minister said, speaking to reporters.
The winter session of the state assembly kicked off in Dharmshala on Tuesday. It will continue till December 23.
