New Delhi [India], October 13 : Maharashtra Legislative Assembly Speaker Rahul Narwekar on Friday said that he doesn't consider it important to comment on "baseless allegations" after Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Aaditya Thackeray's statement on Speaker keeping silence on scams in the state.
"I don't consider it important to comment on baseless allegations," Narwekar told ANI in Delhi.
Aaditya Thackeray urged Speaker Narwekar to take a decision on the scams during the current Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) government in Maharashtra adding that his party will move the Supreme Court if the Speaker fails to address the same.
"If we look at the proceedings that have started today, the Speaker of the Maharashtra Assembly (Rahul Narwekar) is no longer a speaker, now he is working on the role of a tribal. Now our hope is that he should work freely and fair but within the time limit and within limits so that justice is achieved," Thackeray said.
He further said, "It has been one and a half years since the (Eknath Shinde-BJP) government came, and there were many scams during this period. Our hope is that Speaker Rahul Narwekar should take a decision as soon as possible or we will again go to the Supreme Court. The public will also express the displeasure expressed by the court in the coming times."
