Papum Pare (Arunachal Pradesh) [India], March 24 : Union Minister Kiren Rijiju on Sunday questioned the protests surrounding the arrest of Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal in connection with the alleged excise policy case.
"If someone has committed corruption, shouldn't that person be arrested? If someone has done a liquor scam and looted crores of money, isn't action required against them? Why is ED for? The protest is staged by the AAP and Congress," the Union Minister said while speaking to reporters in Arunachal Pradesh's Papum Pare on Sunday.
Earlier in the day, Rijiju held a roadshow in the Papum Pare district.
The Directorate of Enforcement (ED) arrested CM Kejriwal on March 21 in connection with the alleged liquor policy scam. The case pertains to alleged corruption and money laundering in formulating and executing the Delhi government's excise policy for 2021-22, which was later scrapped.
AAP leaders Manish Sisodia and Sanjay Singh are in judicial custody in the case.
The agency has alleged that the accused in the scam were in touch with Kejriwal to formulate the excise policy that resulted in undue benefits to them in return for which they allegedly paid kickbacks to the party.
