IGP chairs security review meeting in Kashmir in view of forthcoming events

Kashmir (Jammu and Kashmir) [India], August 2 : The Inspector General of Police Kashmir Zone, V.K. Birdi, chaired a security review meeting at the conference hall of Police Control Room (PCR) in Kashmir on Friday.
During the meeting, Birdi had a discussion with many high level officers present there on the recent security developments along with the current challenges and the measures to counter these challenges. Birdi emphasised the need to review and enhance the security plans and to design effective counterinsurgency strategies for smooth and peaceful conduct of the forthcoming events.
IGP Birdi also directed the officers to increase surveillance upon anti-national elements and to increase area dominance in their respective zones. He also stressed the need to enhance the security of vulnerable targets and to ensure foolproof security arrangements for the upcoming events. He also directed the district heads to closely monitor social media platforms to prevent any attempt to spread misinformation impacting public safety and order.
At last, he instructed the officers to increase cordon and search operations along sensitive areas of the valley and national highways in particular. The meeting concluded with the resolve to ensure heightened vigilance, improved coordination and effective implementation of security measures to maintain peace and safety across the valley.
The meeting was attended by Inspector General of CRPF (SOS), Joint Director of Srinagar Intelligence Bureau, Inspector General of CRPF (KOS) Srinagar, Deputy Inspector General Srinagar CID, Deputy Inspector Generals Kashmir Zone Police, Deputy Inspector General Armed Kashmir, Deputy Inspector General CRPF South Srinagar, Senior Superintendent of Police PCR Kashmir, all district Senior Superintendent of Police, Deputy Commissioner SB Srinagar, Senior Superintendent of Police Traffic Rural Kashmir, Senior Superintendent of Police CID SBK, Senior Superintendent of Police Traffic City Srinagar, Superintendent of Police PC Srinagar and other senior officers.
