IMD predicts heavy rainfall in Tamil Nadu for next two days

Tenkasi (Tamil Nadu) [India], September 28 : Indian Meterological Department (IMD) on Friday issued a yellow rain alert (heavy rainfall) for the state of Tamil Nadu for the next two days.
Rain has been lashing several parts of Tamil Nadu. Parts of Tenkasi city experienced rainfall on Saturday.
Other parts of the state, including Thoothukudi, also saw heavy downpour on Saturday.
On September 26, heavy rain lashed the state's capital, Chennai, and left several parts of the city waterlogged.
The rain in the city started after 6 pm and continued late into the night. Power outages and traffic snarls were reported from several parts of the city. According to the officials, from yesterday 8.30 am to today 5.30 am, Nungambakkam received 7.42 cm of rainfall and Menambakkam received 7.12 cm of rainfall.
Tiruvallur, Vellore and Cuddalore districts of the state and Puducherry also received downpours on September 25.
Valparai weather station in Coimbatore received 8.0 mm rainfall, Thiruttani weather station in Tiruvallur district recorded 5.0 mm rainfall, Cuddalore weather station recorded 0.2 mm rainfall, Vellore weather station recorded 0.4 mm rainfall, and Puducherry recorded 0.3 mm rainfall.
Notably, IMD has also issued yellow rain alert for other parts of the country which include Puducherry, Kerala, South interior Karnataka and coastal Karnataka for September 29 (Sunday).
Heavy to very heavy rainfall is very likely to occur over the Gujarat region, East Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim today, IMD stated on Saturday.
IMD has further predicted heavy rainfall in Puducherry, Kerala, Arunachal Pradesh, Lakshadweep, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram and Tripura on September 30 (Monday).
