"Inclusive growth is PM Modi's guarantee": Basavaraj Bommai
Mar 29, 2024
Haveri (Karnataka) [India], March 29 : Former Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai praised Prime Minister Narendra Modi's commitment to inclusive growth and criticized the current Chief Minister and Deputy Chief Minister, accusing them of being disconnected from common people due to their "intoxication of power."
Speaking at the induction of backward classes leaders to BJP in Ranebennur on Friday, Bommai said, "Ensuring a strong inclusive growth has been a guarantee of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The chief minister and deputy chief minister thought the state was under their control. Some great leaders would come out of control to ensure a change in the situation. The CM, deputy chief minister and others were not seeing people due to intoxication of power as they were surrounded only by sycophants. They would understand the reality after the announcement of the results. Those backward class leaders who joined the BJP would be treated with respect."
Bommai noted that while other states had contrasting political situations, Karnataka's voters were mature. He cited examples from past elections to illustrate his point, emphasizing the electorate's ability to make informed choices.
He said, "The situation was quite contrast in other states. But the picture was totally different in Karnataka as the voters were mature. The people did not support the state government led by Ramakrishna Hegde in Lok Sabha polls but he got overwhelming support in the subsequent Assembly election after he tendered resignation. In 2013, the Karnataka voters supported the Congress party but it was rejected in the parliamentary election held the next year and votes for Narendra Modi."
Bommai said in the last ten years, the opinion about Bharath has changed in the world. Earlier, they would heard about terrorist attacks. When Pakistan attacked India, the then PM Dr Manmohan Singh wrote letter to the Pakistan counterpart alleging their country people attacked India. But Prime Minister Narendra Modi did the surgical strike and sent a strong message to Pakistan that they would be spared if they attack Bharath. The developed countries were facing recession but the Bharath has achieved 7 per cent growth.
The BJP government has given 8 lakh houses to people and water and toilet to every house. The inclusive growth has been a guarantee given by Modi. Every citizen was given vaccine against Corona due to which all of them were healthy. The PM Kisan Sanman scheme started by the BJP government of giving Rs 4000 each had been stopped by the incumbent Congress government. As the state has been reeling under severe drought but funds had been released to mitigate the situation. They discussed the water crisis in Vidhana Soudha by drinking the aerated water. But the situation was quite grim in rural areas. No development works were going on in the state. This has been complained by the ruling Congress MLAs. The implementation of five guarantees has been tardy in the state, he added.
The Congress which had announced to implement the backward classes commission report before the parliamentary election, has now become silent. They have done injustice to the backward classes. The funds earmarked for the SCs/STs had been diverted for guarantee implementation. The voters must vote the BJP for development.
Former minister Byrati Basavaraj, B C Patil, District President Arun Kumar Pujar and others were present.
