INDIA will win Jharkhand, Maharashtra Assembly polls: Bihar Congress president Akhilesh Prasad Singh

Patna (Bihar) [India], October 17 : Bihar Congress president Akhilesh Prasad Singh has expressed confidence that the Opposition INDIA alliance will win the upcoming Assembly elections in Jharkhand and Maharashtra.
"INDIA alliance will contest the elections and win. The alliance will form governments in both the states," Akhilesh Prasad Singh told reporters here.
Meanwhile, former Bihar Deputy Chief Minister and RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav said on Tuesday that the INDIA alliance will strive to win all the elections and that their effort will be to defeat the Bharatiya Janta Party in Jharkhand again.
"There are by-elections on 4 assembly seats in Bihar. There are elections in Maharashtra and Jharkhand as well. Our effort will be to win all the elections...," Tejashwi Yadav told reporters here following the announcement of the poll schedule by the Election Commission for Jharkhand and Maharashtra earlier on Tuesday.
When asked how many seats RJD will contest, Tejashwi Yadav said, "We are in the government in Jharkhand; we are part of the INDIA alliance. We want to contest the elections together. Our effort will be to defeat the BJP in Jharkhand again. It will be clear in some time who will contest how many seats."
Jharkhand is set to vote in two phases in assembly polls to be held on November 13 and 20, while Maharashtra will go in for a single-phase election on November 20, the Election Commission announced on Tuesday.
Votes will be counted in the two states on November 23.
The Chief Election Commissioner also announced the dates for bypolls to 48 assembly seats and two Lok Sabha seats.
Bye-elections to 47 assembly constituencies and one parliamentary constituency, Wayanad, in Kerala will be held on November 13. Bypolls to one assembly constituency in Uttarakhand as also to the Nanded Lok Sabha seat in Maharashtra will be held on November 20.
Votes will be counted for all the seats on November 23.
The results of assembly polls in Jammu and Kashmir and Haryana were declared earlier this month.
