IPL title drought adds pressure on owners: RCB chairman Sanjeev Churiwala
Aug 20, 2020
Bengaluru (Karnataka) [India], Aug 20 : Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) chairman Sanjeev Churiwala has said that not winning the Indian Premier League (IPL) title even once does "add pressure" on the owners.
"Performance is something that motivates us and drives all of us. We have been three times in the finals, (but) never lifted the trophy. It does add pressure. There's no doubt about it. But there is also a learning every time," ESPNcricinfo quoted Churiwala as saying on Thursday.
"Our last two performances (seasons) have not been really up to the mark, but otherwise by and large it was not something that we should be really concerned about," he added.
Initially scheduled to start in March, the 2020 edition of the IPL was postponed due to the coronavirus pandemic. Now, the 13th edition of the IPL will be played from September 19 to November 10, across three venues in the UAE -- Abu Dhabi, Sharjah, and Dubai.
Earlier in the day, Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) said that the franchise will reach Dubai on Friday. Also, the team will commence a three-week camp from August 29 with Director of Cricket, Mike Hesson, and Head Coach, Simon Katich.
"RCB team will reach Dubai on August 21 and start a 3-week camp with Indian and International Players in collaboration with Mike Hesson and Simon Katich from August 29 onwards," RCB had said in a statement.
