Jun 11, 2023
New Delhi [India], June 11 : Ace composer and singer Anu Malik, who has given a number of hit numbers, talked about nepotism in the industry and said things are never easy for star kids. In an exclusive interview with ANI, he recalled his struggle and also shared how his daughters, Anmol and Ada Malik are working hard to establish themselves.
He said, "See those who talk about nepotism and say things are much easier for star kids, I want to tell them that it is not. I think I finally turned this around and say that it has become easier for someone from outside to make it than star kids."
Malik continued, "My daughter Anmol is an outstanding singer and I have helped countless singers but has anyone come forward and expressed his wish to work with my daughter."
He then mentioned the songs sung by his daughter like 'Nagin Dance', 'Talli' and many more and added that she has struggled in the industry even more than him.
"Neither she asked for work from anyone. Many shut doors on her face. She is my daughter and still has to face many hurdles, even more than I faced in the industry. In fact, my younger daughter Ada also worked very hard. She is a fashion designer. I and my wife have just decided to teach our kids, educate them and let them keep their heads high in society."
He informed ANI that Anmol has written a book that is being made into a series. "She has written a book titled 'Three Impossible Wishes', published by HarperCollins, which is being converted into a series. I am really proud of her."
"So, those who talk about nepotism should know that star kids have to work very hard. Neither, my daughter knew that she will be Anu Malik's daughter nor I was aware that I will be the son of a musician, Sardar Malik. People just listen to the songs. They don't know how much hard work I have put to establish myself in the industry."
Anu has worked as a music composer, singer, music arranger and score composer in his career and has given many hits 'Taal Pe Jab' and 'Mere Humsafar' from the film 'Refugee', 'Tumse Milke Dilka Jo Haal' from 'Main Hoon Na', ' Baazigar O Baazigar' from 'Baazigar' and many more.
He added that it was never a cakewalk for him to make his place in the entertainment industry.
"Tan ki, mann ki, dhan ki takleef dekhi hai maine (I have seen the problems of body, mind and money). Once I was singing at a high pitch and blood came out of my mouth. It is only faith in God and hard work that helps to grow in career," he told ANI.
