Mandi (Himachal Pradesh) [India], March 10 : Himachal Pradesh Leader of Opposition Jairam Thakur on Sunday said that it is very unfortunate that the MLA who supported the BJP candidate for Rajya Sabha is being harassed by registering a case against him.
Earlier today, the Shimla Police has registered a First Investigation Report (FIR) against an independent legislator and the father of one of the disqualified Congress rebel MLAs in Boileauganj police station, sources from the police said on Sunday.
Jairam Thakur said "Such a situation has arisen in Himachal Pradesh that Congress does not have a majority and their behaviour is not according to the democratic system. The MLAs who supported the BJP candidate for Rajya Sabha, steps are being taken to harass him by registering a case against him."
"I have received information that another case has been registered against the Congress MLA, his father and an independent MLA. This is very unfortunate. If such things happen then it will not be good for the state government. The MLAs have voted with faith in the democratic system and it is not appropriate to harass them and their families in this manner," he added.
According to the sources, FIR registered on the complaint of Congress legislators against the Independent MLA from Hamirpur and father of Congress rebel and disqualified leader.
The case has been registered in the Boileauganj police station of Shimla under sections 120B, 171 (e) and (c) of the Indian Penal Code and Sections 7 and 8 of the Prevention of Corruption Act.
The complaint has three parts: undue pressure and unfair means adopted in Rajya Sabha elections; Horse trading during budget sessions; and use of means for illegal ends, Like Helicopters, hotels, etc.
"More names could be added to the FIR after the investigation," the sources said.
