New Delhi [India], December 5 : Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw on Thursday, highlighted the importance of using advanced technology in Indian Railways.
Speaking to ANI, Railway Minister emphasised on the importance of safety measures of track system in railways. He highlighted the deployment of three ITMS (Integrated Track Monitoring System) machines two years ago, which have provided accurate railway track measurements.
"The track system in railway is a very important and complex system, if we measure all the parameters of it properly then the safety of railway will increase much more...PM Modi always wishes to bring forward technology in every sector...use new ways...3 ITMS (Integrated Track Monitoring System) machines were deployed in railway around 2 years ago and its experience so far has been very good..," he said.
These machines will now be introduced across all railway zones. The Integrated Track Monitoring System provides analysis by image processing for the status of track components, identification of any obstacle in the schedule of dimension of Indian Railways, full rail profile and wear measurement, contactless track geometry parameters measurement.
Vaishnaw also announced a revised track measurement protocol for frequent monitoring and improvements with Rail cum Road Vehicles (RRVs), enhancing safety for trackmen and keymen.
He stated these measures will significantly modernize Indian Railways in the next five years.
"Around 2-2.5 years ago, three more ITMS machines were deployed in the Railways. These machines give very accurate measurements of the railway tracks. Such machines will be deployed in every Railway zone now. The track measurement protocol will be revised to do more frequent track measurements. With Rail cum Road Vehicle (RRV) there will be an improvement in the working and safety of will be trackmen and keymen.
