Jammu Smart City organises e-bicycle rally

Jammu (Jammu and Kashmir) [India], September 29 : In a display of dedication to eco-friendly transportation, Jammu Smart City organised an electric-bicycle rally as part of the 'Swachta Hi Seva' and 'Meri Mati Mera Desh' initiatives.
The rally was flagged off by the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Jammu Smart City Limited (JSCL), Rahul Yadav, at Apsara Road Gole Market, Jammu.
Rahul Yadav said that after the success of the manual Cycle project which has seen more than one lakh kilometres of usage till now, E Cycles were introduced.
E cycles will use electric power and go upto 30 kms on one charge and if some paddle is given it can also go on for 50 kms.
The rally drew an impressive turnout, with scores of participants, including prominent members of the media, coming together to support the cause of sustainability.
The rally embarked on its journey from Apsara Road to Gole Market, traversing through Gandhi Nagar Hospital Road and Green Belt Road before culminating in Apsara Road, Gole Market.
Yadav also said that Jammu Smart City Limited is committed to driving innovation in urban mobility and fostering a greener, more sustainable urban environment.
He also revealed that Jammu Smart City has undertaken several e-mobility projects including electric bicycles, e-rickshaws, and e-autos.
CEO, of JSCL, further said the introduction of electric buses will revolutionize transportation in the city of temples.
He extended his heartfelt congratulations to the people of Jammu for winning the award for the successful operation of e-autos and e-rickshaws under the urban environment category of the prestigious India Smart Cities Awards Contest (ISAC).
Furthermore, Yadav added that the e-Mobility project is a robust solution to pressing urban issues, such as traffic congestion, pollution, and the perennial challenge of limited transport options.
"These electric vehicles shine brightly due to their cost-effective operational dynamics, making them the preferred choice for both passengers and drivers, ushering in a new era of sustainable urban transportation,” he said.
Speaking about the development of the Apsara Road 'High Street' Gole market area along with the adjoining roads project, Rahul Yadav said the project is near completion.
He added under the prestigious project of Jammu Smart City total road length measuring 13.64 kilometres was developed with facilities like street lighting, pedestrian lighting, footpaths, parking, water ATMs, seating, underground utility duct, road parking, sculpture, water features etc.
“The project is near completion and soon will be dedicated to the people of Jammu,” he said.
