JDU's Lalan Singh sworn in as Union Minister in NDA government

New Delhi [India], June 9 : Janata Dal (United) leader Rajiv Ranjan, popularly known as Lalan Singh, took oath as the Union Minister on Sunday as Narendra Modi was sworn in as the Prime Minister for the third time along with his cabinet and council of ministers.
Singh (69) won the Lok Sabha elections from the Munger constituency.
The former JD(U) national president and four-time MP Lalan Singh has been among the closest aides of Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar.
Following the results of the Lok Sabha elections, the JD(U) leader emphasized that the constituent parties are united in their backing for Modi to take the oath for his third term as Prime Minister.
Before the oath ceremony on Sunday, Rajiv Ranjan stressed that his party has not made any specific demands for the ministry.
"We have not made any demands regarding any ministry. It is the PM's special right to appoint persons in specific ministries," he told ANI.
JD(U) won 12 seats in the Lok Sabha elections. The party had contested the Lok Sabha elections in alliance with BJP, LJP and HAM.
Narendra Modi took oath as Prime Minister of India for his third successive term on Sunday at an impressive ceremony at the Rashtrapati Bhavan which is being attended by leaders from India's neighbourhood and Indian Ocean region.
President Droupadi Murmu administered the oath of office to Narendra Modi, followed by other members of his team of ministers.
PM Modi was seen wearing a full-sleeved white kurta with churidar and blue half jacket.
The Bharatiya Janata Party-led NDA secured 293 seats in the Lok Sabha elections. BJP won 240 seats on its own. In the 543-strong lower house of the Indian parliament, 272 is the minimum majority figure.
