Jehanabad's SP and DM "responsible" for death of people in stampede: RJD MLA Kumar Krishna Mohan

Jehanabad (Bihar) [India], August 12 : Holding Jehanabad's Superintendent of Police (SP) and District Magistrate (DM) "responsible" for the death of seven people in a stampede at Baba Siddhanath Temple here, RJD MLA Kumar Krishna Mohan alias Suday Yadav on Monday demanded a compensation of Rs 10 lakh for the victims.
"This is a sad incident and the people responsible for this are Jehanabad's SP and DM. Jehanabad district administration is responsible for this incident. We will meet the injured and the family of the deceased. We will take this issue forward. Compensation should be given. They (administration) have killed people here," Mohan said.
He further said that this was a major tourist destination of Magadh.
"After this incident, post-mortem was done in a hurry. We will not allow this kind of negligence in Jehanabad. A compensation of Rs 10 lakh should be given to victims. The ruling government has not even informed the opposition about the incident," he added.
At least seven people died and nine others got injured in a stampede at Baba Siddhanath Temple in Makhdumpur, Jehanabad district, in the early hours of Monday.
Confirming the incident, Jehanabad DM Alankrita Pandey told ANI, "At least seven people died and nine were injured in a stampede at Baba Siddhanath Temple in Makhdumpur, Jehanabad district. We are monitoring everything and now the situation is under control."
Speaking to ANI, Divakar Kumar Vishwakarma, SHO Jehanabad said, "DM and SP visited the spot and they are taking stock of the situation...A total of seven people have died...We are meeting and inquiring the family members (of the people dead and injured)...We are trying to identify the people (who have died), after this we will send the bodies for post-mortem..."
Meanwhile, Vikas Kumar, SDO Jehanabad, expressed his grief over the incident and said that it was a sad incident. "All the arrangements were tight, we are taking stock of the situation and then will further inform you about this," he told reporters.
