New Delhi [India], May 14 : In a robbery that seems to be a scene straight from a movie, a jewellery showroom in the national capital's Dariba Kalan area was looted by drilling a hole into it from an adjacent shop, police said.
According to the owner of the shop, Lalit Soni the thieves made off with around Rs 1 lakh cash and silver jewellery weighing around 10-12 kilogram.
Soni said, "On Saturday or Sunday night, they might have carried out the robbery. They entered the shop by drilling a hole in the neighbouring shop. They stole all silver jewelry and cash totalling Rs 15-20 lakh but left behind the artificial jewellery. We got to know after two days when my brother came to open the shop. He noticed the debris alongside the counter with no jewellery."
The owner of the shop said that there might be a possibility that robbers were aware of the shop and had tracked all their activities.
An FIR has been registered in the police station regarding the case and the team has collected all fingerprints and evidence from the spot. Police said adding it is investigating further.
