Jharkhand Minister condoles deaths in Howrah-CSMT train accident, announces Rs 2 lakh compensation

Seraikela Kharsawan (Jharkhand) [India], July 30 : Banna Gupta, Jharkhand's Minister of Health, Medical Education, and Family Welfare, extended his condolences to the families affected by the train derailment and said that Chief Minister Hemant Soren has announced a compensation of Rs 2 lakh for each bereaved family.
Two people were killed after several coaches of the Howrah-CSMT Express derailed near Chakradharpur in Jharkhand earlier today.
Speaking with the reporters, Gupta said, "I express condolences towards the bereaved families on behalf of CM Hemant Soren. CM has said that we will be cooperative with the railways in any kind of assistance required. Rs 2 lakhs would be given to bereaved families and Rs 50,000 to those who are injured. The state government will also take up all expenditures related to their treatment."
He further said that this accident should serve as a lesson for the for the future. "Such a big accident is a reason for concern. The PM had said that we have brought such a mechanism that 100 per cent rail accidents will stop. Despite all this, many accidents have occurred... This (derailment accident) is a huge mistake... This should be a lesson for the future and the railways should think about it. The reason for the accident is yet not clear," Gupta said.
Earlier in the day, Senior DCM Chakradharpur Railway Division, Aditya Kumar Chaudhary informed that all the passengers had been evacuated and had been shifted to Chakradharpur by special trains and buses.
He further said that two people have died and five injured are being treated at railway hospital. He added that the rescue operation is complete and restoration is going on.
"Train no 12810 Howrah-Mumbai got derailed...All the passengers have been evacuated and have been shifted to Chakradharpur by special trains and buses. The special train will run from Chakradharpur to Mumbai as per the detailed timings. Two people have died and five injured are being treated at railway hospital...Rescue operation is completed and restoration is going on," Chaudhary told ANI.
The accident took place around 3:45 am, after which Accident Relief Medical Equipment (ARME), with staff and Additional Divisional Railway Managers CKP (Chakradharpur Railway Station), reached on-site to manage the situation.
