Banna Gupta said, "Kalpana Soren is a very intelligent, educated woman. She was a housewife but after the way her husband was humiliated, tortured and sent to jail, she came out to fulfil her husband's responsibility and protect the people. She has won the election from Gandey. In the coming time, our government will be formed again in Jharkhand and it will be with full majority."
He further said that the focus of the JMM government was to give jobs to the youth.
"Whether it is Surgeon pension scheme, Old pension scheme, jal samriddhi yojana we have done a lot of public-centric work. Our focus is on employment to the youth and we have prepared a lot of schemes to provide them jobs," he added.
Earlier Kalpana Soren, wife of jailed former Chief Minister Hemant Soren, was sworn in as MLA from Gandey assembly constituency in Ranchi on Monday.
The JMM leader was sworn in as a member of the Legislative Assembly by the Speaker of the state Legislative Assembly Rabindra Nath Mahato.
On this occasion, Jharkhand Chief Minister Champai Soren and many other MLAs were present.
Kalpana Soren said, "We have less time as assembly elections are approaching and a lot of tasks have to be fulfilled. 3 to 4 months are left for the Vidhan Sabha elections. The public of Jharkhand has extended love and support to us. Every worker of the Mahagathbandhan alliance will fulfill his responsibility."
She further asserted that former Chief Minister Hemant Soren was in jail but his ideology has reached to the people of Jharkhand.
"Although former CM Hemant Soren was not physically present but the way we fought the Lok Sabha polls, his ideology reached the people. People of Jharkhand have extended their affection for the former CM. There is a lot of responsibility on us. I wish that whatever time is left for the Vidhan Sabha polls we have to take the Mahagathbandhan alliance forward," she further added.
The seat was left vacant after the resignation of JMM MLA Sarfaraz Ahmad, who is now a Rajya Sabha member.
Vidhan Sabha polls in the state are due later this year.
