Justice Rajiv Shakdher sworn in as chief justice of Himachal Pradesh high court

Shimla (Himachal Pradesh) [India], September 25 : Justice Rajiv Shakdher took oath as the New Chief Justice of the Himachal High Court on Tuesday.
The Governor of Himachal Pradesh, Shiv Pratap Shukla administered the oath to Justice Rajiv Shakdher as Chief Justice of the High Court of Himachal Pradesh at Raj Bhavan. Rajiv Shakdhar was earlier working as a senior judge in the Delhi High Court. He was recommended by the Supreme Court Collegium to be made the Chief Justice of Himachal, after which the notification of his appointment was issued.
He will replace Chief Justice MS Ramachandra Rao, who has recently been appointed as the Chief Justice of Jharkhand High Court. Ramachandra Rao was made the Chief Justice of Himachal in May 2023. Rajiv Shakdhar will retire on October 18. Accordingly, his tenure is less than a month.
The Chief Minister could not attend the oath taking ceremony due to ill health reasons while Minister Chandra Kumar, Vikramaditya Singh, Rajesh Dharmani, Congress State President Pratibha Singh, BJP State President Rajiv Bindal, High Court Judge and other dignitaries were present.
"This is a very important post, you know, first of all I want to assure the people of Himachal that I will try my best for the justice to people state and although my period is short, it does not mean that we will not do what needs to be done despite the short tenure, "said Justice Rajiv Shakdher.
