Karnataka Minister Zameer Ahmad Khan sets one-month deadline for making 'khatha' of Waqf properties

Dharwad (Karnataka) [India], September 3 : Housing, Minorities Welfare, and Waqf Minister Zameer Ahmad Khan has set a one-month deadline for the creation of 'khatha' (account) for Waqf properties in the Hubli-Dharwad region.
During a meeting with officials at the Dharwad Deputy Commissioner's office on Monday, he emphasised the importance of taking Waqf property matters seriously. "Officials must take steps to prevent encroachment and protect these properties," he said.
Out of the 190 pending properties in the Hubli-Dharwad region, khatha for 100 properties was handed over during this occasion.
When officials brought up issues regarding Waqf properties in Uttara Kannada district, specifically concerning disputes with the Forest Department, the minister stated that a separate meeting would be held with the Forest Minister within fifteen days to address the matter.
The minister instructed Minorities Welfare and Waqf officials to maintain continuous communication with related departments such as the Municipal Corporation, Revenue, Zilla Panchayat, and Urban Development to resolve issues related to these properties.
He also directed the Deputy Commissioners to take action on petitions submitted to the Waqf Adalat in both districts.
MLC Abdul Jabbar, Waqf Board Chairman Anwar Basha, MLAs Konareddy and Aravind Bellad, Deputy Commissioners Divya Prabha and Lakshmi Prasad, and Minorities Welfare Department Director Jilani Mokashi were present at the meeting.
