New Delhi [India], September 15 : BJP MP Sudhanshu Trivedi hit out at Delhi Chief Minister on Sunday and said Arvind Kejriwal's resignation announcement showed that he has "accepted the corruption charges" levelled against him in the Delhi Excise Policy case.
Kejriwal was released from Tihar Jail on Friday evening, hours after the Supreme Court granted him bail in a corruption case related to the alleged Delhi Excise Policy scam.
"He is the first Chief Minister of the country who has been banned from going to office, cannot sign any file and cannot speak on the Delhi Excise Policy case. When you have been restricted from conducting of official duties then what is the personal reason for which you need 48 hours to resign? This shows he has admitted his guilt. You have accepted that the charges are so grievous that you cannot hold to your post," Sudhanshu Trivedi said.
The Rajya Sabha member further alleged that Kejriwal became the first Chief Minister to come out of jail and break the rules made by his government, as fireworks are banned in Delhi but fire crackers were burst by his supporters.
"After coming out of the jail, fireworks were done. He became the first Chief Minister of this country to come out of jail and break the rules made by his own government. Delhi government decided to ban fireworks and the Chief Minister of Delhi came out of jail and broke the rules of the Delhi government. Why are you (Arvind Kejriwal) talking about resigning after coming out and what is the matter after 48 hours? The people of the country and Delhi want to know what is the secret of 48 hours, what all is to be settled in 48 hours?," Trivedi asked.
The BJP spokesperson further said that there was one more suspicion arising out of his announcement of resignation.
"Why does Kejriwal want the elections to be conducted earlier? Is there any internal feud within his party? Is this resignation out of any obligation? You already have the majority in the assembly and you are the Chief Minister currently. If you want the election then call for a cabinet meeting, dissolve the assembly and recommend for dissolution of the assembly for polls," he said
Delhi BJP President Virendraa Sachdeva also said that the people of Delhi want to get rid of the AAP government.
Virendraa Sachdeva said, "What does he want to do in these two days? The public of Delhi wants to get rid of the AAP government. The cabinet should be dissolved and elections should be called in November. There is not even a single department in the AAP government where corruption does not take place."
Sachdeva further alleged that the entire party is accused in the Delhi Excise policy case.
"He (Arvind Kejriwal) is saying that he will go among the public of Delhi and they will take the decision. The public of Delhi has already announced their decision three months ago when he (Arvind Kejriwal) asked for 'jail ke badle vote'. The public of Delhi announced its verdict and gave zero seats to them," he further added.
In a major move, Arvind Kejriwal said he would resign from the position of Chief Minister after two days.
Kejriwal further said that if the public votes for him, it will give him a certificate for his honesty.
CM Arvind Kejriwal said, "I am going to resign from the CM position after two days. I will not sit on the CM chair until the people give their verdict. I will go to every house and street. Elections are after a few months. If you think Kejriwal is honest, then vote for me, I will take over as CM after the elections. If you think I am not, don't vote. Your vote will be a certificate for my honesty, then only I will sit on the post of CM."
