"Kejriwal took care of women's safety," says Delhi Minister Atishi

New Delhi [India], February 29 : Delhi minister Atishi on Wednesday appreciated Delhi Chief Minister and Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) supremo Arvind Kejriwal for taking care of women's safety in the national capital.
"Earlier, it was very difficult for the women of Delhi to travel in buses. Kejriwal, as a brother and son, took care of the women of Delhi, and marshals were appointed in the buses," said Atishi.
The minister pointed out that the workers who remained working as bus marshals from 2015 to 2022 started objecting to the files that recognised civil defence volunteers as bus marshals in 2023.
Lashing out at the BJP, Atishi said that the bus marshals are doing this out of fear.
"The officers are honest, and want to work, but they are being threatened that if they follow the orders of the Kejriwal government, they will lose their jobs. The only reason for the removal of bus marshals is the BJP," the minister said.
Further slamming the BJP, she said, "They are threatening the officers. But now they are full of hatred against the women of Delhi as well. The BJP should not do such cheap politics."
"Civil defence volunteers are present here today. The way Arvind Kejriwal has stood like armour for the people of Delhi, he will continue fighting in the future as well," assured Atishi.
Last year, Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal, issued directions that till the deployment of home guards as bus marshals is done, the current bus marshals will continue so that women's safety is not compromised.
Kejriwal said that not only should these guards be deployed as bus marshals expeditiously, but there should be no reduction in the number of bus marshals, according to the press release issued by Delhi CMO last year.
