Ernakulam (Kerala) [India], December 19 : The Kerala government has come up with an explanation in the High Court on the government order directing district collectors to collect money through sponsorship for the Navakerala sadas.
The Advocate General told the court that the order clearly states that they can accept money from the sponsors if they donate willingly and there is no need to collect the money by printing coupons.
The petitioner had argued that Navkerala Sadas is being conducted by spending crores of rupees and that nothing is transparent about the outreach program. However, the court said that many of the arguments of the petitioner were mere conjectures. The division bench also clarified that the court should not be used to voice such matters.
The High Court will hear the petition again after the Christmas holidays.
Nava Kerala Sadas is an outreach programme of the government. Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan and other state ministers travel through all the assembly constituencies of the state as part of the program.
