Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh) [India], July 2 : Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav on Tuesday again hit out at Congress leader Rahul Gandhi over his remark in the Parliament saying Congress National President Mallikarjun Kharge should speak with the Leader of Opposition regarding his resignation.
"Several Congress leaders, including senior leader of Madhya Pradesh Congress - Lakshman Singh, have expressed disagreement with what Rahul Gandhi said in the parliament. I think Mallikarjun Kharge should gather details of this and speak with Rahul Gandhi regarding his resignation," CM Yadav told reporters.
Congress leader and former CM Digvijaya Singh's brother, Lakshman Singh posted on X, "The comment on "Hindus" in Parliament is indecent and unnecessary. It would be appropriate to raise only and only issues related to the people and the country."
State Minister (Independent Charge), Krishna Gaur also raised objection over Rahul Gandhi's remark and said that Hindus of the entire country are angry and the Congress leader should apologise to them.
"Hindus of the entire country are angry; the way Rahul Gandhi has given the statement in the parliament yesterday, perhaps he has forgotten that there is a large number of Hindus in the country. The people of the country can never tolerate the insult of Hindus. Therefefor, Rahul Gandhi should apologise to the Hindus of the country. His statement is condemnable and we have strong objections to it," the State Minister told ANI.
Meanwhile, Congress MLA Hiralal Alawa backed LoP Rahul Gandhi saying the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) was representing the statement of the Congress leader in a wrong way.
"Rahul Gandhi has only called BJP and Narendra Modi's government violent, he has not called any Hindu in the entire country violent. The BJP is representing Rahul Gandhi's statement in the wrong way. The BJP has become nervous inside the House due to Rahul Gandhi's roar and nothing else," Alawa told ANI.
Meanwhile, there was an uproar on Tuesday in the state assembly over Rahul Gandhi's statement as the BJP was demanding that the LoP should apologise. Due to the ruckus in the House, the proceedings were adjourned for 15 minutes.
Notably, the budget session of the Madhya Pradesh assembly is going on which began on Monday. The session will run from July 1 to July 19 and the budget is likely to be presented on July 3.
Participating in the debate on the Motion Of Thanks to the President's address to a joint sitting of Parliament, Rahul Gandhi on Monday targeted the BJP-led government and alleged there has been "a systematic attack" on the idea of India.
"There has been a systematic and full-scale assault on the idea of India, the Constitution and on the people who resisted the attack on the Constitution. Many of us were personally attacked. Some of the leaders are still in jail. Anyone who resisted the idea of concentration of power and wealth, aggression on poor and Dalits and minorities was crushed...I was attacked by the order of the Government of India, by the order of the Prime Minister of India...The most enjoyable part of it was the 55 hours of interrogation by ED...," he alleged.
He also called the Hindu symbol 'Abhaya Mudra' which gestures fearlessness, reassurance and safety, as the symbol of the Congress party."
"Abhaya Mudra is the symbol of Congress...The Abhaya Mudra is the gesture of fearlessness, is the gesture of reassurance and safety, which dispels fear and accords divine protection and bliss in Hinduism, Islam, Sikhism, Buddhism and other Indian religions...All our great men have spoken about non-violence and finishing fear...But, those who call themselves Hindu only talk about violence, hatred, untruth...Aap Hindu ho hi nahi," the Congress leader said.
Rahul Gandhi also said that the BJP was not the entire Hindu society.
"Narendra Modi is not the entire Hindu society. BJP is not the entire Hindu society, RSS is not the entire society, this is not BJP's contract," he said.
BJP members took strong objection to Rahul Gandhi's remark and accused Rahul of insulting Hindu religion by connecting it with violence.
