New Delhi [India], August 21 : BJP leaders on Wednesday pressed for the resignation of West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee over the sexual assault and death of a trainee doctor at RG Kar Medical College and Hospital while the TMC said that the case is under the Supreme Court's observation and it is all baseless and drama politics.
The Supreme Court has constituted a 10-member National Task Force to make recommendations on the prevention of violence and safe working conditions for medical professionals. The task force includes Surgeon Vice Admiral Arti Sarin, among others.
The development comes days after the rape and murder of a junior doctor in Kolkata sparked nationwide protests, the apex court suo motu took up the case and directed the task force to submit an interim report within three weeks and a final report within two months.
The top court also asked the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) to file a status report on the status of the investigation in the rape case. Also, the court asked the West Bengal government to file a status report on the mob attack incident that took place at the RG Kar hospital on August 15.
BJP workers led by West Bengal BJP President Sukanta Majumdar staged a protest in Kolkata on Wednesday demanding the resignation of Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee in the wake of the Supreme Court's observation in the case.

Adhikari and all other protestors were seen wearing black t-shirts and demanded the resignation of Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee.
Meanwhile, Bharatiya Janata Party, MP Manoj Tiwari also alleged that the sexual assault and murder of a female doctor in West Bengal's Hospital was carried out in a very coordinated manner as some had tried to erase the evidence of the incident that happened on August 9.
He said, "There is no doubt that in society, every person and artist living is extremely sad it cannot be expressed in words. I will request all the doctors that whoever is on strike should return to work. The culprit will be identified because there is not just one culprit in this but it is a whole gang."
As the Bharatiya Janata Party continues to press on the resignation of West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee over the sexual assault case, TMC leader Kunal Ghosh said on Wednesday that no BJP CM resigned when cases of rape were registered in their states.
Ghosh said that this is all baseless drama politics.
"The investigation is currently with the CBI. In this case, the Kolkata police were the first to arrest the accused, and now it's the CBI's responsibility to deliver justice. The CBI is a friendly organization of the BJP, so they should go to the CGO complex. The Supreme Court has said that doctors should return to work. Since the CBI is investigating and the Supreme Court is overseeing the case, why aren't the doctors returning to work? Suvendu ji should know that during cases like Hathras, Unnao, and the Bilkis Bano case in Gujarat, which BJP Chief Minister resigned? Why are they making a drama out of this? During the Congress rule, did Sheila Dixit resign after the Nirbhaya incident? This is all baseless, drama politics," he said.
The All India Institute of Medical Sciences, New Delhi on Wednesday requested resident doctors of the institute to resume their duties immediately so that patient care services are normalized.

Akhtar Ali told ANI that Sandip Ghosh is allegedly involved in scams like biomedical waste, illegally handling dead bodies, failing students and demanding bribes, awarding unnecessary tenders and operating illegal stall kiosks.
He said, "Today I have filed a case in the High Court, a criminal case, that case has been registered and its admission hearing is tomorrow. I have also appealed to the High Court for my safety and security because I am also getting threats. And this is a very big scam. Sandip Ghosh has a very big nexus which I want to expose."
