"Kursi bachane...," says RJD's Rabri Devi on Union Budget allocation for Bihar
Jul 24, 2024
Patna (Bihar) [India], July 24 : Former Bihar Chief Minister and RJD leader Rabri Devi on Wednesday alleged that the Union Budget presented a day ago by Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman in Parliament was simply an attempt by the Prime Minister Narendra Modi-led government to remain in power.
The RJD leader dubbed the Budget as an exercise by the PM Modi government to save his chair. "Kursi bachane ke liye" said Rabri Devi.
"The budget that was presented yesterday is just to save the 'chair'...PM Modi has announced all sops for the two states of Andhra Pradesh and Bihar just so that he can remain in power. Nitish Kumar has asked for a special status for Bihar, what will happen by giving packages? The people of Bihar should get employment, and inflation should be controlled. Flyovers have been built but over 20 of them have collapsed. In the budget, the government has fooled the people of Bihar," said Rabri Devi.
RJD MP Misa Bharti also lashed out at the Centre, alleging that nothing has been done for the welfare of youth and unemployment in the State
"We want to know what Bihar has got. JDU has been demanding special status for Bihar and packages. Bihar has received just a toy and a toffee. There is nothing for youth or the middle class. Nothing has been done to create employment. It is just copy paste and repackaging. This is a budget to save position by PM Modi," said Misa Bharti.
Meanwhile, Union Minister Rajiv Ranjan (Lalan) Singh expressed satisfaction with the allocation of funds for Bihar in the Union Budget 2024 and said that the budget has plenty of packages for the state in every sector, such as infrastructure, tourism or irrigation.
Rajiv Ranjan Singh said, "We had demanded special status or a special package for Bihar. Today's budget has an abundance of packages for Bihar. Whatever sector you look at--be it strengthening infrastructure, developing tourism or irrigation--there is an abundance of schemes in every sector. After the implementation of these schemes, Bihar's growth rate will go up."
Notably, Indian Youth Congress workers today held a protest against Chief Minister Nitish Kumar outside the Bihar Legislative Council on Wednesday over the anti-paper leak bill passed in the Assembly, unemployment and the Agniveer scheme.
