New Delhi [India], April 27 : Taking a potshot at the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) over the arrest of Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, Delhi Minister Atishi stated that the BJP imprisoned Kejriwal to prevent him from campaigning, but "lakhs of Arvind Kejriwals" have hit the streets to campaign for him, which demonstrates the love of Delhiites for the AAP supremo.
Speaking to ANI amidst the campaign, Atishi said, "BJP put Arvind Kejriwal in jail thinking that they can stop him from campaigning but now lakhs of Arvind Kejriwals have hit the streets for campaigning. This is the love of the people of Delhi."
The Delhi Minister resonated with the people in the campaign and said, "Today the people of Delhi have come out in such large numbers to bless Arvind Kejriwal Ji."
"People have gathered here to give their blessings to Arvind Kejriwal and Sunita Kejriwal. The people of Delhi have come out in such large numbers to bless our Delhi Chief Minister," she said.
Atishi added that it is the love for the Delhi Chief Minister that has brought the people of Delhi out in such huge numbers.
Arvind Kejriwal's wife Sunita Kejriwal, who entered the political battleground with fiery speeches at the INDIA bloc's rallies last month held a mega roadshow in the national capital today in support of AAP's East Delhi candidate Kuldeep Kumar.
The AAP supremo's wife is gradually assuming a bigger role in the party to give a boost to the AAP's campaigning, which has been affected by the Chief Minister's arrest in March.
Sunita Kejriwal last month took part in the INDIA bloc's mega rallies in Delhi and Ranchi and has so far held three digital media briefings mainly focused on communicating Arvind Kejriwal's messages to the people.
Arvind Kejriwal was arrested last month by the Enforcement Directorate in an alleged money laundering case linked to the liquor policy scam.
He remains the Chief Minister even after his arrest with the AAP asserting no law stops him from running the government from jail.
Sunita Kejriwal is a former Indian Revenue Services (IRS) officer who served in the income tax department for 22 years.
Her last posting was at the Income Tax Appellate Tribunal in Delhi where she served as the income tax commissioner.
