Lakshadweep: NCC Special National Integration Camp held at Kavaratti

Kavaratti (Lakshadweep) [India], January 2 : A Special National Integration Camp was conducted by Kerala and the Lakshadweep Directorate of the NCC at Kavaratti from December 22, 2023, to January 2, 2024, an official statement issued on Tuesday said.
According to the statement, 200 cadets from the 17 NCC Directorates all over India, including 32 cadets from various islands in Lakshadweep, attended the camp.
The Group Commander of the NCC Ernakulam Group, Commodore Simon Mathai, NM, was the Camp Commandant. He was assisted by CO 7 Girls NCC Unit Lt Col Bijoy and CO 1 Naval Unit NCC Commander Himanshu Kapil, the statement further stated.
"The Cadets were given an opportunity to participate in a variety of activities that enabled them to understand the unique lifestyle, customs, and traditions of the local people on the islands. Many interactive events also helped the Cadets assimilate the rich and diverse cultures from all across the country. They were also accorded an enriching experience in water sports, including scuba diving," read the statement.
The Cadets visited various units and establishments in Kavaratti, namely INS Dweeprakshak, COMDIS 12, Pawan Hans Helicopter Base, Desalination Plant, Marine Museum and Planetarium. The Cadets from the various directorates put up inspired performances during various competitions that were held, showcasing the unique customs and traditions of each region, the statement further stated.
Mohammed Faizal PP, the Member of Parliament from Lakshadweep Islands, presided over the prize distribution and closing ceremony.The camp enabled the cadets to make new friends and bolster the unity and diversity of our great nation while taking them back home with priceless memories, the statement further stated.
