LG appoints Adv Akhand Pratap Singh as special public prosecutor in MCOCA case against gangster Himanshu Bhau

New Delhi [India],October 19 : The Lieutenant Governor's office has appointed Advocate Akhand Pratap Singh as the Special Public Prosecutor in the case against gangster Himanshu Bhau under the Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act (MCOCA).
This appointment aims to strengthen the prosecution's efforts in handling organized crime cases effectively.
Notification issued in this regards stated that, "in exercise of the powers conferred by sub-section (8) of section 18 of the Bharatiya Nagrik Suraksha Sanhita, 2023, the Competent Authority is pleased to appoint Akhand Pratap Singh, Advocate as Special Public Prosecutor to represent the state before Trial Court & High Court of Delhi in the matter of case FIR No. 249/2024 u/s 307/387134 IPC &25/27 Arms Act &3/4 MCOC Act, P.S. Tilak Nagar(investigated by Crime Branch), Delhi.
In May, Delhi Police charged fugitive gangster Himanshu Bhau and his gang members under the stringent Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act (MCOCA) for operating an extortion syndicate that threatened businessmen in Delhi. Recently Delhi Police has arrested gangster Himanshu Bhau's cousin, Vicky who is also a key gang member, from his native village in Haryana
In August, Delhi's most wanted gangster, Himanshu Bhau, took to social media to claim responsibility for a shooting in Hisar that left four people injured. In an Instagram post, he described the incident as a revenge killing, with at least one of the victims succumbing to their injuries.
Advocate Akhand Pratap Singh has previously represented the Economic Offence Wing, Crime Branch, and Special Cell of Delhi Police in several high-profile cases, including those involving gangster Lawrence Bishnoi, conman Sukesh Chandrashekhar, the Newsclick case, and the Parliamentary Security Breach case.
