LoP Rahul Gandhi meets labourers, street vendors in Delhi; accuses BJP for their pathetic situation

New Delhi [India], July 6 : After meeting the street vendors and daily wage labourers in the GTB Nagar of the national capital Delhi, leader of the opposition and Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Saturday attacked BJP's central government and said that the daily wage labourers are facing troubles and hardships in their regime.
He asserted that these labourers are forced to live their lives in poverty and run their households for four days with one day's earnings.
In his post combined with a video on X, Rahul Gandhi said that the workers who are building the future of India, their families are in danger. He further alleged that labourers are forced to run their households for four days with one day's earnings.
In the video, the Congress leader was seen interacting with the public and asking about their problems.
Rahul Gandhi also went to a construction site in Gopalpur with labourers and was spotted engaging in their work.
The Leader of the Opposition (LoP) resolved that he will ensure that the hard-working labourers of India will get their full rights, security and respect.
Taking it to social post on X, Rahul Gandhi wrote, "Under Narendra Modi's government, the 'makers of India' are facing terrible hardships. The labourers are forced to run their households for four days with one day's earnings. They have no savings and are living a life of poverty because of the worry of paying the interest. I got the opportunity to meet street vendors and daily wage labourers in GTB Nagar and get to know their life struggles closely. Those who are building the 'future India', their own families' future is in danger. I will ensure that the hard-working labourers of India get their full rights, security and respect - this is my resolve."
Earlier, Leader of Opposition and Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Wednesday accused Defence Minister Rajnath Singh of "lying" on the floor of the Parliament over the Agniveer scheme and demanded an apology from the latter.
In his video message on X, Rahul Gandhi said that Singh had lied in Parliament about the issue of compensation to families of killed Agniveers.
Upon his allegations, the Indian Army said that it salutes the supreme sacrifice made by Agniveer Ajay Kumar who lost his life in the line of duty and his family has already been paid Rs 98.39 lakhs. Ex-gratia and other benefits amounting to approximately 67 lakhs will be paid on final account settlement shortly post-due police verification.
Indian Army's Additional Directorate General of Public Information (ADGPI) posted a 'clarification on emoluments to Agniveer Ajay Kumar' on Wednesday and said certain posts on social media have brought out that compensation hasn't been paid to the next of kin of the Agniveer.
"It is emphasised that the Indian Army salutes the supreme sacrifice made by Agniveer Ajay Kumar. The last rites were carried out with full Military Honours. Of the total amount due, family of Agniveer Ajay has already been paid Rs 98.39 lakhs," ADGPI said in a post on X.
"Ex - Gratia and other benefits amounting to approximately 67 lakhs, as applicable according to the provisions of the Agniveer Scheme, will be paid on Final Account Settlement shortly post-due police verification. The total amount will be Rs 1.65 Cr approximately. It is re-emphasised that emoluments due to a fallen hero are paid expeditiously to the Next of Kin of departed soldiers, including Agniveers," it added.
