LS polls: 65.8 pc voting takes place in nine assembly seats in Kurukshetra till 7 pm

Kurukshetra (Haryana) [India], May 25 : A total of 65.8 percent voting took place in the nine assembly constituencies in Kurukshetra Lok Sabha constituency till 7 pm on Saturday.
Earlier, Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) Dr Vaishali Sharma had said that the Kurukshetra Lok Sabha constituency is expected to cross the voter turnout mark of 75 percent in the sixth phase of polling.
Dr Vaishali Sharma had said, "There are about 18 lakh voters in Kurukshetra Lok Sabha constituency, out of which 10 lakh voters have cast their vote which is around 57.7 percent. The highest turnout has been recorded from the Radaur assembly constituency. The women voter representation is around 40 percent. We are expecting to cross the voter turnout mark of 75 percent."
According to the data shown on Election Commission's Voter Turnout App, 65.8 percent voting took place in nine assembly constituencies in Kurukshetra till 7 pm.
District Election Officer Shantanu Sharma and ADC Dr Vaishali Sharma inspected the polling stations.
In Kurukshetra BJP candidate Naveen Jindal is contesting against Sushil Kumar Gupta of AAP and Indian National Lok Dal (INLD) nominee Abhay Singh Chautala.
According to the data shown on Election Commission's Voter Turnout App, Haryana recorded 58.56 percent voting till 8.30 pm.
The sixth phase of Lok Sabha polls includes eight seats in Bihar, all 10 seats in Haryana, one seat in Jammu and Kashmir, four in Jharkhand, all seven seats in Delhi, six in Odisha, 14 in Uttar Pradesh, and eight in West Bengal. A total of 889 candidates are in the fray.
Polling has already been completed on 428 parliamentary constituencies for 25 states and UTs in the first five phases of general elections.
Over 11.13 crore voters, include 5.84 crore males, 5.29 crore females and 5120 third gender electors were eligible to exercise their franchise in the sixth phase of Lok Sabha polls. Around 11.4 lakh polling officials will be involved in conducting this phase of the election.
The Lok Sabha elections will be completed on June 1 after the seventh phase of polls in which voters from 57 constituencies will exercise their franchise. The results will be declared on June 4.
