New Delhi [India], April 18 : The Bharatiya Janata Party has launched 'NRI4NAMO' initiative to connect non-resident Indians (NRIs) in party's poll campaign for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.
The initiative has been pioneered by BJP's Videsh Vibhag under the guidance of BJP National President JP Nadda, underscoring the significant role NRIs play in fostering democratic engagement and contributing to India's electoral process.
As part of this initiative, a dedicated hotline number: +91 8076707532 (WhatsApp/Mobile) has been established to address queries, provide information, and connect NRIs with their respective constituencies to campaign for the BJP during the elections.
This hotline aims to facilitate communication and support for NRIs seeking to volunteer in the General Elections 2024.
The initiative aims to connect the global Indian diaspora with the party's campaign and harness their contributions in the democratic framework.
Earlier, BJP's foreign affairs department chief Vijay Chauthaiwale told ANI that BJP extends the invitation to over 25 political parties from foreign countries to observe India's Lok Sabha elections, party leader.
"As you know India is the mother of democracy and BJP is the largest party in the world and therefore there is enormous curiosity among the global players all over the world regarding BJP's campaign. Maybe for the first time in the history of electoral politics in India, we have invited several parties across the globe and invited them to watch how BJP campaigns," Chauthaiwale said.
He added, "We are doing two types of campaigns, one is an online campaign for the diaspora, where they are conducting a lot of social media campaigns, putting videos...So, this is what they are doing outside India...There are hundreds of people planning to come to India for the campaign; we have already received the names of the registration of more than 1000 people and there will be many more coming directly hence, we are appealing to them to come here for at least 2 weeks."
The campaigning for 102 parliamentary constituencies across 21 states and Union territories concluded on Wednesday, where voting will be held in the first phase of the Lok Sabha elections on April 19.
The 2024 Lok Sabha elections to elect the 543 members of the 18th Lok Sabha will be held in seven phases, from April 19 to June 1. The results will be announced on June 4.
