Madhya Pradesh: 2 persons, including woman, arrested for blackmailing, and threatening to defame former army man in Gwalior

Gwalior (Madhya Pradesh) [India], June 24 : Two persons, including a woman, were arrested for allegedly blackmailing and threatening to defame a former army man in Madhya Pradesh's Gwalior district, a police official said on Monday.
He has been identified as Nand Kishore Lodhi (38), a resident of Murar locality, who runs a travel agency in the district.
The accused woman, identified as Manisha Rajpoot (26) and a resident of Murar locality, once had booked a car from the victim's travel agency and they became friends. Later, the accused and Lodhi met in a hotel room and got some pictures clicked. After that, the woman along with her associate, Chintu Jat (35), a resident of the Badagaon locality, started blackmailing him.
The accused were continuously threatening the former army man to defame him by making pictures viral on social media and were demanding money. Upset with this, the victim lodged a complaint at Murar police station on June 22.
Additional Superintendent of Police (ASP) Niranjan Sharma told ANI, "An ex-armyman named Nand Kishore Lodhi, a resident of Murar locality, runs a travel agency here. A woman had booked a car from his agency and gradually they became friends through social media. After that, they met privately once or twice in a hotel room and clicked some personal photos. Later on, the woman started blackmailing him along with her friend, and demanded Rs 10 lakh from him."
"They threatened the former army man that if he failed to give money, she would make the photos viral. Upset up with this, the former armyman lodged a complaint at Murar police station in the district," the officer said.
Acting on the complaint, the police registered a case under sections 384, 389 and 120 B of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and arrested both the accused Manisha Rajpoot and his friend. Both the accused are being interrogated and further investigation is underway into the matter, ASP Sharma added.
