Dindoshi (Maharashtra) [India], October 29 : Shiv Sena leader Sanjay Nirupam from Eknath Shinde's faction on Tuesday filed the nomination for the upcoming Maharashtra assembly elections from the Dindoshi constituency. He appealed to the people to elect him and that he would work day and night for the development of the Dindoshi constituency.
"I am going to file nomination from Dindoshi assembly constituency as the Mahayuti candidate representing Shiv Sena, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Nationalist Congress Party (NCP), and Republican Party of India (Athawale). I have faith and I promise that I will work day and night for the development of the Dindoshi area. I appeal to the people to trust me (by electing). I believe in serving people. I pledge to do work for Dindoshi in the next five years," Nirupam said.
Earlier, Nirupam was named in the list of candidates released by Shinde's Shiv Sena to contest the upcoming Maharashtra assembly elections scheduled to be held on November 20. The senior leader had said that he was fortunate that the party had faith in him and assured he would win the trust of the voters and reach Vidhan Sabha on November 23.
"I am fortunate that the party put faith in me... I will win the trust of the voters of Dindoshi and reach the Vidhan Sabha on November 23 with Bhagwa in my hand," said Nirupam.
Amid the seat-sharing tussle earlier in the opposition Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) alliance, Nirupam had attacked Shiv Sena (UBT) saying that they are struggling to secure seats. Thackeray, who once boasted of hitting a century, now had to fight for every single seat in the alliance, he said.
Nirupam had referred to the infight between opposition parties in the MVA alliance as a "trailer" of what was about to come next while stating that they are already working against each other and will continue to do so in the future.
"The number of seats MVA has will not be enough to bring them to power. Instead, they will have to sit in the opposition, where they will only be able to secure the position of Leader of Opposition (LoP). On the other hand, the Mahayuti alliance is returning to power will full strength. In this grand battle, the BJP is the largest party and it will get seats accordingly. At the same time, BJP is treating its two allies with respect and moving forward together," he said.
