May 03, 2024
Pune (Maharashtra) [India], May 3 : Bharatiya Janata Party General Secretary, Vinod Tawde said on Friday that the Mahayuti alliance led by Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde will win over 40 seats in the state.
Speaking on the alliance with undivided Shiv Sena, Tawde said, "Fadnavis would have been the Chief Minister of the state but he doesn't play politics for any revenge. We had an ideological alliance with ShivSena (the Uddhav Thackeray's Sena). Sanjay Raut said that he would have joined the BJP if there would have been any pressure from investigative agencies. Recently Rupali Ganguly and another former diplomat joined the BJP, were they had any pressure from any agency? Mahayuti will win over 40 seats in Maharashtra in the Lok Sabha polls."
The Mahayuti Alliance includes parties like- Bharatiya Janata Party, Eknath Shinde-led Shiv Sena and Ajit Pawar-led Nationalist Congress Party (NCP).
Further, talking about Eknath Khadse's re-entry to the BJP, the senior BJP leader said, "Eknath Khadse will join us. Fadnavis and Bavankule have never opposed his rejoining. The final decision is made after the talks with the leaders from the centre."
Earlier, Eknath Khadse's daughter, Rohini Khadse said that the latter is capable of deciding where he wants to work.
"He has been working in politics for the last many years and he is capable of deciding where he wants to work. A small worker like me cannot judge his decisions. Here the election is not being fought on any individual. The elections will be fought on the ideology of the parties. They will fight with BJP and we will move forward with the ideology of NCP," she said.
Meanwhile, the incumbent MP, Shrikant Shinde, on Thursday filed his nomination as a Shiv Sena candidate from the Kalyan Lok Sabha constituency for the 2024 elections.
He was accompanied by the Maharashtra Chief Minister and his father, Eknath Shinde.
"This time also Modi's govt will be elected with full majority and PM Modi will become the PM again. Just like we are set to win 400 plus seats across the country, we will win 45 plus seats in Maharashtra and in Kalyan, we will win with a record margin," Shrikant Shinde told ANI.
Maharashtra, with its 48 Lok Sabha seats, is the second-largest contributor to the Lower House of Parliament after Uttar Pradesh.
In the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, the BJP won 23 out of 25 contested seats, while the undivided Shiv Sena secured 18 out of 23 seats.
The polling in the state is being held across five phases. Polling for 11 seats in Maharashtra will be held in the third phase on May 7. Of the 48 seats in the state, voting in 13 was conducted across the first and second phases.
