Kolkata (West Bengal) [India], December 20 : On the day West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee held a meeting with Prime Minister Narendra Modi and urged to release dues of nearly Rs 1.16 lakh crore, Leader of Opposition (LoP) Suvendu Adhikari staged a protest against the Mamata Banerjee government at the Secretariat building, Nabanna.
Adhikari said that the Chief Minister has deprived artisans, especially from the OBC and SC categories of the PM Vishwakarma Yojana. He also alleged that those willing to apply for new Ujjwala connections are not being allowed.
"You are depriving artisans, especially from the OBC and SC categories, of the PM Vishwakarma Yojana in our state. In other states, preparations are complete, lists are complete. Under the Ujjwala Yojana, 75 lakh gas connections have been promised by the Prime Minister. But in our state, women are deprived of applying for new Ujjwala connections," he said.
"We are protesting against the Mamata Banerjee government which is deep into corruption by standing at the State Secretariat, which is not her ancestral property. This dramatic, false, dynastic and corrupt Chief Minister has no right to go to the Prime Minister and speak about the state's economic deprivation," Adhikari said speaking at a press conference on Wednesday.
Adhikari alleged that the Chief Minister, who has started the system of 'for the party, by the party, of the party' in her state and has deprived several communities in her state, has no standing to speak of deprivation of her state.
"The Chief Minister who has started the system of 'for the party, by the party, of the party', should not speak about deprivation. She has deprived the Nepali Gorkhas of Darjeeling hills, tea garden workers, Kurmi adivasi community of 'jangalmahal', OBC Hindus. She has not even provided the basic health amenities to those in Sundarban, she should not speak of deprivation of her state," he said.
The West Bengal LoP has also accused the Chief Minister of not giving due respect to BJP representatives in official programs.
"BJP councillors, panchayat members, MPs and MLAs are not called for any administrative meeting. In recent times, in the places where the Chief Minister conducted public distribution programs, BJP representatives from those places were not given due respect," Adhikari alleged.
West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee met Prime Minister Narendra Modi and urged to release dues of nearly Rs 1.16 lakh crore from the Government of India on account of various Centrally Sponsored Schemes and pending claims for natural disasters over past years.
Speaking to reporters after the meeting, the West Bengal CM said PM Modi informed her that the decision would be taken after a two-member central delegation team meets officials of the state government.
"A ten-member delegation, including our MPs, met the PM today. I urged the PM to release the funds due to the state. He said there will be joint meetings between officials from Centre and West Bengal on this," she said.
