New Delhi [India], June 3 : After the stock market opened with an unprecedented uptick on Monday, Bharatiya Janata Party leader Shehzad Poonawalla on Monday said that markets are confident about BJP returning to power.
The stock market reached an all-time high after exit polls forecast a decisive victory for the BJP-led NDA coalition, sparking widespread investor optimism on Monday.
"After the media's exit polls, now the markets in a sense, barometer of what they are expecting to happen on June 4 has also come about when the Sensex and Nifty have shown a huge hike of almost 2000+ points. It shows that the confidence, not just the markets but also the people of India bestowed upon Modi govt. This is just one of the indicators," Poonawalla told ANI.
On BJP's victory in Arunachal Pradesh, Poonawalla said that the INDIA bloc's propaganda failed in northeastern states.
"Even as the country has seen the exit polls on June 1 and we are waiting for the exact numbers on 4th June, there has been an exact verdict in the Northeast states of Arunachal Pradesh and Sikkim. In Arunachal Pradesh, BJP has comeback with a thumping majority. It shows the confidence the people of Northeast bestow upon BJP even though there was a lot of propaganda done by INDI alliance and Congress. Congress must introspect. Nagaland, Assam, Tripura, Meghalaya, all these states have banished the Congress," he said.
Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) retained its power in Arunachal Pradesh as it surpassed the previous record of 41 seats in 2019 by winning 46 seats in the 60-member Assembly. Prime Minister Narendra Modi said the party will work with "greater vigour" for the state's growth.
Votes were counted for 50 Assembly segments for which elections were held in the northeastern State along with Lok Sabha polls on April 19. The rest 10 seats were won by the BJP party uncontested. The BJP won 46 seats in the 60-member assembly.
