Meghalaya: BSF thwarts cattle smuggling attempt at International border; apprehends 6 Indian nationals

Shillong (Meghalaya) [India], July 31 : Border Security Forces (BSF) apprehended six Indian nationals and thwarted a cattle smuggling attempt at the international border in Meghalaya.
The Meghalaya-based Public Relations Officer, BSF, said in a statement that its troops rescued 69 cattle loaded in four pickup vehicles in West Garo Hills.
The PRO added that in a joint operation with the Meghalaya police, the troops of the 100th Battalion BSF Meghalaya, rescued 69 cattle from the bordering area near the bordering village of Dalu, "which were meant to be smuggled" to Bangladesh.
"During this operation, six Indian nationals involved in cattle smuggling were also apprehended. The seized cattle and apprehended persons were handed over to the police station at Dalu for further legal action," the PRO added.
The BSF Meghalaya "continues to remain vigilant and dedicated to its mission of protecting the borders and preventing smuggling activities."
Earlier in the month, the BSF thwarted a major cattle smuggling operation near the Malakar Basti BOP, in the Dharmanagar subdivision of the North Tripura district. During the operation, the forces seize ten cattle heads and apprehend two individuals. A vehicle was also seized.
