Met office predicts heavy rainfall in several districts of Madhya Pradesh in next 24 hrs

Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh) [India], September 2 : The Meteorological Office issued an alert for very heavy rainfall in five districts of Madhya Pradesh in the next 24 hours on Monday.
A regional meteorologist has also predicted that along with a very heavy rainfall alert in the five districts namely Burhanpur, Khargone, Dewas, Harda and Betul, there is heavy rainfall in 22 districts in the state in the next 24 hours.
"There is a depression (low pressure system) active in East Vidarbha and the adjoining areas. Secondly, a trough line passing through Sriganganagar, Rajasthan and Gondia is connecting to the depression, as a result of which, moisture is arriving from both Arabian Sea and Bay of Bengal and Cloudy weather is seen. In this way, a very heavy rainfall alert has been issued for five districts in the state in the next 24 hours namely Burhanpur, Khargone, Dewas, Harda and Betul," said BS Yadav Meteorologist, IMD Bhopal.
"Apart from that, there are 22 districts of western Madhya Pradesh where a heavy rainfall alert has been issued. When this system shifts towards the north then, there will be a decrease in the effect of the rainy season," he added.
According to the regional met office, moderate thunderstorms with lightning are likely to occur over Alirajpur, Barwani in the forenoon hours. Similarly, light rain to occur over Jhabua, Dhar/Mandu, Khandwa/Omkareshwar, Khargone/Maheshwar, Burhanpur, Betul, Pandhurna in the forenoon hours.
According to the data received from the regional met office, Khargone recorded the maximum rainfall of 104.2 mm in the last 24 hours till 8:30 am. Similarly, Khandwa recorded 73 mm, Ujjain received 39 mm, Ratlam 33 mm, Dar 30.8 mm, Narmadapuram 28.9 mm, Betul 27.8 mm, Bhopal 23.8 mm and Indore received 23.6 mm rainfall in the last 24 hours.
Meanhwile, the IMD on Septemeber 1 said that the depression over S Odisha and adjoining S Chhattisgarh and N Andhra Pradesh moved W-NW with a speed of 17 Kmph. It is likely to move W-NW across S Chhattisgarh & Vidarbha and weaken into a well marked Low Pressure Area during next 24 hours.
